On May 25th DinoLand U.S.A. became home of what Disney has dubbed Donald’s Dino-Bash!, a celebration where Donald Duck takes over DinoLand U.S.A. to celebrate his recent discovery that ducks are descendants of dinosaurs. Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Launchpad McQuack, Scrooge McDuck, and even Chip ’n Dale join in the daily event.

What is Donald’s Dino-Bash! and How Can You Participate?

First and foremost, Donald’s Dino-Bash! consists of several character greeting venues, and in the evening there is a small dance party celebrating Donald Duck’s discovery that his bird ancestors were actually dinosaurs. The characters do meet intermittently at different locations within DinoLand.

Character meet-and-greets at Disney’s Animal Kingdom were reduced when Camp Minnie-Mickey closed in 2014 to make way for Pandora: The World of Avatar, but cladding Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Launchpad McQuack, and Scrooge McDuck in dinosaur-themed outfits to fit the storyline is like putting lipstick on a pig duck. The addition of Chip ’n Dale is particularly odd, their outfits making them look like Barney’s friends Baby Bob and BJ. You can lineup for them inside the Cretaceous Trail. The trail is also where you can find Daisy Duck. Launchpad McQuack’s base is at his Areal Adventure Base.

Dino-Bash

Donald Duck hangs out at the Donald’s Dino-Bash! Celebration Welcome Center, Goofy is found near Primeval Whirl, Scrooge McDuck holds court near Restaurantosarus, and Pluto fittingly roams the Boneyard. All characters meet intermittently from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., except for Chip ’n Dale, who stop meeting at 4 p.m. to participate in the dance party.

From 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., the DJ-powered dance party takes place in front of a truck turned into a truck-o-saurus stage. And no, it does not look like its namesake, the giant mechanical truck-dinosaur from the Simpsons, it is more like the dino version of the Mystery Machine.

The dance party is lively and led by a cast member who, together with Chip ’n Dale, invites guests to join the bash. Donald’s Dino-Bash! is a permanent addition to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Scrooge McDuck and Launchpad McQuack, until now, have been rarely seen in the parks; if you enjoy character meet-and-greets, then you will have a great time.
