The Unofficial Guides’ 7 Most Anticipated Attractions of 2021

2021 Anticipated Attractions featured Velocicoaster

This past year was a wild ride in every sense of the world! We are finally ready to bid farewell to 2020, and we look forward in anticipation of some of the spectacular themed attractions set to open across the country in the new year. With coronavirus vaccines now beginning to be distributed, travel and tourism are looking to make a major rebound. These are the top 7 upcoming attractions in the areas covered by our Unofficial Guides that we’re looking to lead the recovery in 2021.

7: Snow White’s Enchanted Wish at Disneyland

We can’t wait for the Happiest Place on Earth to finally reawaken at a yet-to-be announced date in 2021, and when Disneyland finally does reopen, one of its timeless classics will have a brand-new name and look. Snow White’s Scary Adventures has been transformed into Snow White’s Enchanted Wish, and the Fantasyland favorite will now feature enhanced special effects and a new happy ending.

6: Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando

Originally intended to debut in 2020, SeaWorld Orlando’s new arctic-inspired roller coaster is now set to debut in Spring 2021. Ice Breaker’s striking orange track may not be as immersive in its theme as coasters at Disney or Universal, but with four launches—both forwards and backwards —and a beyond-vertical drop, it should prove a big hit with thrill-seeking teens.

5: Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart at Area15 Las Vegas

Area15, the high-tech entertainment complex off the Las Vegas Strip, made its debut in late 2020, but we can’t wait for its anchor tenant to open its doors in early 2021. The Meow Wolf art collective’s first large-scale permanent installation since Santa Fe’s original House of Eternal Return, the new Omega Mart promises hours of mind-melting interactive adventures exploring a satirical superstore.

4: Secret Life of Pets: Off The Leash at Universal Studios Hollywood

Another attraction originally intended to open in 2020, Universal Studios Hollywood’s family-friendly dark ride based on the Secret Life of Pets franchise should be raring to go whenever the theme park’s gates reopen. Large practical sets, lots of animatronics, and an interactive queue exploring the pets’ New York apartment building should make this the kind of all-ages ride Universal really needs.

3: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Epcot

The first major element of Epcot’s long-awaited makeover will arrive in World Showcase’s France Pavilion when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opens in 2021. We’ve been on the version of this 3-D dark ride found at Walt Disney Studios Paris and think it will be a welcome addition to Epcot’s ride-deficient attraction lineup.

2: Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure

The west coast home of the iconic Marvel Super Heroes (minus any mention of the Marvel name) will hopefully welcome mere mortals once Disney California Adventure returns to operation. The new Avengers Campus area, which will include encounters with fan-favorite characters and a unique dining location, is centered around an all-new interactive 3-D Spider-Man attraction; we’re excited to see how it stacks up against the Spidey ride already found at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure.

1: Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Islands of Adventure

Speaking of Islands of Adventure, Universal Orlando’s second theme park is racing towards completion of our most-anticipated new attraction of 2021. The Jurassic World VelociCoaster has recently been regularly running test trains on its twisting track, months ahead of the roller coaster’s announced Summer 2021 opening, and we can’t wait to strap in for a 70 mile-per-hour sprint through Blue’s highly-themed raptor paddock.
