Dig This: A Playground for Grown-ups
We are celebrating the 2017 edition of The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas with a GIVEAWAY. Enter for your chance to win a copy, but first more about this amazing playground for grown-ups.
If you ever dreamed of operating a bulldozer or an excavator, then search no longer! A giant sandbox is available for you at Dig This Heavy Equipment Playground in Las Vegas, and it comes fully equipped with the huge equipment you see on construction sites.
Following an orientation and a breathalyzer test—hey, it’s Vegas—your personal instructor takes you out on the lot to move some dirt. You get to operate a 3–15-ton 315 excavator or one of the 2–10 ton D5G bulldozers. You want to operate both? No problem! For a price, this is possible too.
Communicating with you over a headset, your instructor teaches you to operate the earth-moving equipment (squishing the highway cones is considered bad form). The cabs of the equipment are air-conditioned, so you’ll be confortable on hot days.
With the bulldozer, you get to build huge mounds, push gigantic tires, and even teeter-totter over a mega mound. With the excavator, you get to dig trenches and stack 2,000-lb. tires. After you’re done tearing, digging, and driving to your heart’s content (90 minutes later), you receive an official certificate of completion, and you can purchase a photo mounted on a plaque.
Book Your Dig This Experience
The 90-minute package is $249. The Mega Dig is a
3 ½-hour experience that allows you to operate both the excavator and the bulldozer. Mega Digs are $449. Note: There
are age and height requirements (you must be 14 years or older and at least 48 inches tall) to operate the equipment. No driver’s license is required, but if you fail the breathalyzer test you will not be allowed to drive, nor will you get a refund. Family and friends are welcome to come and watch. If you are there without your fan base, your instructor will make sure you get lots of pictures for bragging rights.
Ready to tackle the controls of massive machines? Dig This Heavy Equipment Playground is located only a half mile west of the Strip, at 3012 S. Rancho Drive. For reservations call 702-222-4344 or visit their website.
