Today, Disney announced June 30th as the official opening day for the highly anticipated Toy Story Land.
In 2016, Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show; Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure; Streets of America; and the Studio Catering Co. restaurant closed to make room for the long-awaited park makeover. The 11-acre Toy Story Land will transport guests into Andy’s backyard, and theming will make you feel like you’ve shrunk down to the size of Woody, Buzz, and their friends from Toy Story.
The land will have two rides: Slinky Dog Dash, a family coaster attraction, and Alien Swirling Saucers, where guests swirl around in their Little Green Aliens toy saucers with a giant claw hanging overhead. This ride is reminiscent of the Magic Kingdom’s teacups.
The existing Toy Story Mania! attraction, expanded with a third track, will be incorporated into the new land, and there will be meet-and-greet opportunities.
Woody’s Lunch Box is themed around the idea that Andy has used his vintage Woody-themed lunch box and thermos to set up a quick service eatery. Woody’s Lunch Box will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats from a walk-up window setting.
The entire land will serve as a visual celebration of toys, with Crayons, Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, Tinkertoys, and other familiar toys and game pieces incorporated into the land’s design.
The obligatory stores with Toy Story merchandise will, of course, be there too. Woody, Buzz, and friends, as well as the Green Army Men, will most certainly also take up residence in the new land.
Toy Story Land and its rides will be geared toward families with young children, and it will be very popular—to infinity and beyond. If visiting the new attractions is a priority, make sure to get there at park opening or use FastPass+.
