Bright Suns! If you plan on experiencing Disney’s latest attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, make sure to use the virtual queue.
Access procedures for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance was announced on opening day, and could change at any time. Check back regularly, as we will update all of our information as it becomes available.
Guests can join a boarding group for access to the ride. Here is what you do:
UPDATE: Note that while guests may be allowed into some areas of the park before actual park opening, virtual queues and boarding groups will not be available until published park opening.
- Make sure to download the My Disney Experience app if you don’t already have it and arrive at the park at least one hour prior to opening.
- You (and your entire party) must be inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios to access the virtual queue
- Once official park opening arrives, look on the My Disney Experience main page for “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group.”
- Click on “Find Out More.” The next screen will share the current boarding status of the ride. If a boarding group is available, tap “Join Boarding Group.”
GOOD TO KNOW:
“If join a Boarding Group” is grayed out, you are out of luck, as that means that boarding groups are full for the day and are no longer available.
Some days, Disney may be able to get through all of the distributed boarding groups quicker and earlier than expected. If that is the case backup boarding groups are distributed. Guests with a BACKUP boarding pass will be notified through the My Disney Experience app. Note that the backup boarding pass does not guarantee the ability to experience the ride.
As long as your My Disney Experience account is linked to park tickets for you and the others in your group, you’ll be able to enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time.
You must have push notifications turned on for My Disney Experience to get the alert when your boarding group is called. You can also check your boarding group status on digital status boards throughout the park.
You’ll have up to 2 hours (and sometimes as little as 1 hour) from the time of the alert to get to the entrance of the ride. Once there, you can still expect to a 15-30 minute wait before you are able to ride.
Guests not using My Disney Experience should visit a Guest Experience Team kiosk. Once signed up for the ride, they can check their boarding group status on digital status boards throughout the park.
Joining a boarding group does not guarantee the ability to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
