If you joined us for our recent ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris, you’re probably eager for an even closer look at the amazing creatures spotted along Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s most expansive attraction. You’re in luck— because today we’re taking a virtual walk through Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, which is the safari ride’s self-guided sister attraction.
Currently, all theme parks, cruise lines, and other attractions are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We at The Unofficial Guides hope all our readers and their loved ones, as well as all attraction employees, remain healthy and safe. Without intending to trivialize the current crisis, we will continue to post positive stories about the parks, in hopes of bringing their magic into your home as a welcome distraction during these trying times. For the latest updates, read our guide to cornoavirus and the theme parks.
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail is a walk-through zoological exhibit found in the Harambe section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Its entrance is found along the pathway between the exit of Kilimanjaro Safaris and the rest of Harambe Village.
The Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail is lush, beautiful, and filled with interesting educational exhibits explaining the flora and fauna on display.
Along the trail you’ll spot a hippo pool with an underwater viewing area, plus a naked mole rat exhibit. A highlight is an exotic bird aviary so craftily designed that you can barely tell you’re in an enclosure.
The attraction gets its name from the gorilla enclosures found near the end of the pathway. As the trail winds between the domain of two troops of lowland gorillas, it’s hard to see what, if anything, separates you from the primates.
We rate Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail as four stars and consider it a major attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You can experience it for yourself right now from the comfort of home with this complete walk-through video:
