During a first-of-its-kind virtual event for media and travel agents, Disney revealed the design concept of the fifth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Disney Wish will sail on her maiden voyage on June 9, 2022, from Port Canaveral. Going forward the ship will offer three- and four-night Bahamas sailings with visits to Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island.

A statue of Cinderella will welcome passengers as they board the ship and enter the fairytale castle-inspired atrium. But make no mistake, there will be Marvel superheroes, a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse ride, a Frozen-inspired theatrical dinner, and even a Star Wars lounge on the ship. The Disney Wish is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Dining on the Disney Wish

As is customary for a Disney sailing, the ship will have rotational dining. Three restaurants will offer brand-new family dining experiences. Worlds of Marvel is a Marvel cinematic dining adventure where guests will play an interactive role. At Arendelle, Frozen fans will get treated to a Frozen-themed theatrical dining experience—featuring Anna, Elsa, Kristof, and beloved Olaf—while enjoying Nordic-influenced cuisine. Last but not least, the 1923 restaurant, named after the year the Walt Disney Company was founded, will be a celebration of the golden age of animation.

The Rose, with decor inspired by the Disney flick Beauty and the Beast, is a chic lounge perfect for a pre-dinner aperitif or an after-dinner cocktail. The lounge is conveniently located at the entrances to he adult-exclusive Palo Steakhouse and the luxurious dining venue Enchanté, by three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement.

Boredom is Not on the Menu

Children ages 3 to 12 will enjoy the Disney Oceaneer Club, which offers storytelling, arts and crafts, and plenty of toys and games, as well as character appearances. Parents will check in their kids at the Grand Hall (Atrium) on deck 3 and can send them down a slide through a small door right into the club located on deck 2.

The Marvel Super Hero Academy is Avengers headquarters, where young “recruits” will train to be the next generation of superheroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man, and the Wasp.

Fairytale Hall is a trio of activity rooms where kids will join some of their favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen Queens as they let their creativity shine at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read and act out stories at Belle’s Library, and test newfound icy powers at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.

The Walt Disney Imagineering Lab lets kids discover the secrets of world-renowned Disney Imagineers with hands-on activities and experiments. Kids can engineer their very own coaster and then climb into a capsule where they will virtually ride their creation.

Little cruisers, ages 6 months to 3 years, will be under the expert care of Disney-trained counselors at It’s a Small World Nursery. There will be plenty of magic, crafts making, movie watching, and visits from Disney characters.

Tweens (ages 11 to 14) will have fun at the Edge, a New York City-inspired loft, while teens (ages 14 to 17) are welcome at the Vibe, a Parisian artists’ loft-inspired space. Counselor-led programming is available at both clubs.

Family Entertainment

Broadway-style stage shows will be presented in the Walt Disney Theatre, an elegant 1,274-seat show palace that spans three decks with orchestra and balcony seating. So far, Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular was announced as one of the shows coming to the Walt Disney Theater.

The Wonderland Cinema (84 seats) and the Never Land Cinema (86 seats), both equipped with Dolby Atmos 3D audio technology, will show first-run films from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and more.

Even the Grand Hall, at times, will evolve from an elegant atrium into a theater with an ornate stage for shows and live entertainment.

About the Pools and the AquaMouse

Water lovers will flock to six pools of various sizes on decks 11 and 12, with poolside entertainment on Funnel Vision, a jumbo LED display that screens Disney movies, TV shows, live sporting events, and more. A more laid-back family pool will be available on deck 14.

A water wonderland awaits little tykes at the Toy Story-themed waterplay area designed especially for families with toddlers and young children.

The family pool also doubles as an entertainment venue, with a poolside stage, space for deck parties, and nighttime fireworks.

The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, an animated series of shorts streaming on Disney+ will come alive with AquaMouse. The ride comprised of 760 feet of winding tubes is suspended high above the upper decks of the ship and comes with light and water effects, and is synched to an original musical score by Emmy-nominated composer Christopher Willis.

I Love Kids, but Where Can I Enjoy Some Quiet Time?

At Quiet Cove, guests ages 18 and older will find a secluded adults-only area. Here they can relax in the sun and enjoy the ocean view from a luxurious infinity pool, soak in the whirlpool, or indulge in a drink from the Cove Bar, an open-air watering hole. At Cove Cafe gourmet coffees, teas, specialty drinks, and treats are served throughout the day.

Total pampering and relaxation are available at the Senses Spa and Fitness center.

Staterooms, Suites, and More

Most of the ship’s 1,254 staterooms will offer an ocean view—including 877 with spacious verandas. There will be 451 connecting doors that adjoin rooms to accommodate larger families. The Disney Wish also will have double the number of concierge staterooms and suites, including staterooms located above the bridge. Concierge guests will also have access to an exclusive lounge with a private sun deck.

Last but not least, you can book the royal treatment in one of the four royal suites. These lavishly appointed suites accommodate up to six guests and come with first-class amenities. You only will have to decide which suite appeals best to you, the Princess Aurora-themed suite or the Briar Rose-themed suite.
