The Disney Cruise Line App has come a long way over the years. It’s not yet perfect, but it stacks up well against apps from other cruise lines. There’s some great pre-cruise functionality, including a countdown to your cruise, a list of past cruises, and the ability to prebook activities. Once you’re onboard, it will look totally different. Here are some ways you will want to use it.

- Personalized Itinerary – Once onboard, after you’re signed into the app, it will be personalized to you and the activities you have either been assigned to or signed up for. You’ll see what dining rotation you have, your muster station for the first day, and any other activities you prebooked, like port adventures or upcharge adult dining.
- Port Information – You’ll be able to see the schedule for the cruise, including ports with all-ashore and all-aboard times, and sea days. You can also see the weather forecast and sunrise/sunset times for each port.
- Deck Plans – There are detailed deck plans so you can find venues and locations easily.
- Chat Feature – The onboard chat feature is great for keeping in touch with the rest of your party. Disney will also use it to send you important messages like changes in all-ashore times, nursery messages, reminders, etc.
- Daily Navigator – The formerly paper Navigator listing daily activities has gone digital! All of the same information is now found in the app. You can see a list of each day’s activities with descriptions. You can even scroll ahead and see each day’s options! It’s super helpful for planning.
- Venue Hours and Character Appearances – The activities section will give the hours for restaurants, pools, the spa, lounges, shops, youth clubs, and character appearances.
- Meals – The menus for each of the dining locations and room service are listed, as well as suggested attire for dinners in the Main Dining Rooms. If you want to make sure you don’t have pasta for lunch when your favorite pasta is being served at dinner, check the app! If you want to make sure you don’t have pool-deck ice cream during the day when your favorite sundae is being served that night, check the app so you don’t eat too much ice cream…. Wait, that’s not a thing!
- Photos – A newer feature on the app is the ability to check your photos that the ship photographers have taken during the cruise. I recommend checking it every so often to make sure none of the pics that you’ve had made are missing, especially if you purchased a photo package.
- Rebooking – If you would like to save 10% on a (non-concierge) stateroom on a future cruise, you can book up to two staterooms on the same cruise right in the app. You’ll be charged $250 per stateroom, and you or your travel agent can apply it to any date that’s not blacked out and that sails in the next two years.
- Onboard Game – The Wish-class ships have interactive games you can play right in the app. These are more than video games; they’ll take you all over the ship, completing tasks. It’s a fun way to spend an afternoon!
