The Unofficial Guides are coming home to the original publisher
Keen Communications announces The Unofficial Guides will become the fourth imprint in Keen’s portfolio! This move went into effective July 2013. Keen Communications acquired the exclusive publishing rights in The Unofficial Guide brand from Google and will commence publication with the new editions of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2014; The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas 2014; The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2014; The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids 2014; Beyond Disney: The Unofficial Guide to Universal Orlando, SeaWorld & the Best of Central Florida; and Mini Mickey: The Pocket-Sized Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World.
This effectively marks the return of the series to the original publisher, Menasha Ridge Press (an imprint of Keen), which during the last 25 years packaged the series for Wiley, S&S, and Macmillan USA respectively.
The Unofficial Guides are officially home!
About the Unofficial Guides:
For more than three decades, The Unofficial Guides have claimed the #1 spot as the best-selling independent guides to Walt Disney World and Las Vegas. Likewise, The Unofficial Guide series and its authors have won many awards for journalistic excellence.
The Unofficial Guides are different from other guidebooks as they cater to a specific market: take-charge travelers who place a premium on advance research, planning, and saving time. Contrasted to other guides that are written and produced as one-size-fits-all books, The Unofficial Guides succeed by incorporating the tastes, preferences, and opinions of this carefully defined target market — the individual who will most likely plan and lead the family vacation — and are built upon the data compiled by an organization with extensive training and experience in research design as well as primary data collection and analysis. The Unofficial Guide research is known and respected in both the travel industry and academe, having been cited by such diverse media as USA Today, The Orlando Sentinel, New York Times, Dallas Morning News, Travel Weekly, London Observer, Financial Times, Bottom Line, Money, the BBC, the Travel Channel, CNN, and Fox News.
The Unofficial Guide™ series brings highly-technical and analytical data analysis to the world’s most complex destinations. The books are built to help anyone master such colorful vacation spots as Las Vegas, Disney World, Universal Orlando, Disneyland and Washington D.C.
Keen Communications includes Wilderness Press, which will celebrate it’s 50thanniversary in 2017; Menasha Ridge Press, founded in 1982; the Unofficial Guides which started publication in 1983; the Nature Study Guides which have been around for decades; Clerisy Press, commencing in 2006, and our newest additions, Coconut Press.
This lineup makes Keen the parent company for some of the best-selling travel and adventure books in the United States, delivering to readers and enthusiasts the best in travel content and location information available.
