The wait to experience Central Florida’s most eagerly awaited new thrill will be over sooner than expected, and the Unofficial Guide will be there when VelociCoaster annual passholder previews begin at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure on May 2.
The Jurassic World VelociCoaster has been parked at the top of our most anticipated attractions list ever since Universal Orlando officially confirmed that the newest arrival at Jurassic Park would debut in 2021; once the ride’s June 10 opening date was announced, it was only a matter of time before rumors of sneak previews and soft openings started swirling. But even we were caught by surprise on April 22 when Universal Orlando sent emails to select annual passholders, inviting them to RSVP for VelociCoaster annual passholder previews to be held on Sunday, May 2, through Wednesday, May 5.
As you can imagine, demand for the limited supply of preview reservations swiftly overwhelmed Universal’s reservations system, prompting users to receive repeated “server errors” when trying to submit requests. Through sheer persistence, and with the help of a Twitter tip from Clint Gamache, we somehow managed to secure a coveted spot.
Unfortunately, many other passholders simply received an “RSVPS Closed” message once all available time slots were snatched up.
Although all VelociCoaster annual passholder preview reservations have now been claimed, keep an eye on the Unofficial Guide’s social media channels for information about other opportunities, and be sure to check back here for our comprehensive review of the new roller-coaster as the official opening day approaches!
