Disney’s Hollywood Studios Welcomes Christmas with a Flurry of Fun Retro Decor

2019 DHS Christmas Banner

Right now, guests are lining up daily before dawn for a chance to ride Walt Disney World’s new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, but that attraction is far from the only reason to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios this month. Each of the Orlando resort’s four theme parks celebrates the season in its own style, from the Magic Kingdoms traditional turn-of-the-century decorations, to Epcots diverse cultural observances, to Animal Kingdoms eclectic environmental celebrations. But if you love the vintage mid-century aesthetic of Walt’s era, there’s no place like Disney’s Hollywood Studios for enjoying whimsical vintage holiday decorations.

Liliane Opsomer, coauthor of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids, recently visited Walt Disney World and brought back these photographic highlights of this year’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios Christmas decor.

Toy Story Land Holiday Decor

While the citizens of Black Spire Outpost don’t observe Christmas on Batuu, the park’s second-newest land is celebrating the season in a big way. In Toy Story Land, Andy’s backyard has been dressed up with ginormous garlands and super-size C9 bulbs as Woody and the gang gather together for the holidays.

Toy Story meet-and-greet characters are dressed up for the season as well:

Even the Little Green Men have gotten into the seasonal spirit!

Hollywood Boulevard and Echo Lake Christmas Decor

Hollywood Boulevard and the adjoining Echo Lake are at the heart of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so it’s fitting that this area is home to the retro-style decor that’s closest to our hearts. These furnishings recall vintage ceramic ornaments and blow-mold figurines from the 1940s and 50s.

Echo Lake itself hosts the park’s iconic Christmas tree, along with another fan-favorite treat: Gertie the Dinosaur, wearing a Santa cap and munching on an ornament!

Finally, don’t miss these classic characters adorning the lampposts around the lake.

Seasons Greetings from Sunset Boulevard

Last but not least, Sunset Boulevard is home to the nightly Sunset Seasons Greetings projection show. But this portion of the park also pops with holiday decor during the daytime.

You may even spot the Citizens of Hollywood entertainment troupe, whose vintage vehicles have been tricked out with tinsel trimmings.
